Eating Right for Fertilization

Couples having problems with conception may consider certain avenues to get there, with in-vitro fertilization (IVF) as a potential option. One issue with that, however, is consuming the right types of nutrients needed to prepare your body for the procedure. While there are no existing eating programs tailored for IVF, a La Jolla IVF practitioner may guide you on certain food items that may condition you.

Packing on the Carbs

Specific classes of carbohydrates are meant to be fuel for your body when you engage in various activities. Some dietitians recommend eating honey, fruits, and whole-grain products, particularly bread or pasta.

Water

The common health tip of drinking at least eight glasses of water a day certainly works on the IVF front. Make sure you have a steady supply of clean drinking water at the ready and keep hydrated; don’t rely on sodas or power drinks, too, to replace your water needs.

Protein

A strong protein intake is critical for hormone and egg cell generation. Low-fat meat, eggs, and fish rich in omega-3, among others can stimulate your body for the desired effect. Non-animal protein such as legumes and nuts work as well.

Veggie Good

If your IVF diet includes meat, vegetables are meant to be their counterbalance. Acquire fresh produce from organic sellers, as they are devoid of substances that hinder hormonal development.
