Acupuncture as IVF Support Ups Chances of Success

Infertility has hindered the aspirations of many couples to have a family, but this situation may be addressed by modern solutions like In vitro fertilization (IVF). Besides advanced marrying age, other notable causes of difficulties in conceiving include damaged Fallopian tubes in women, and insufficient sperm counts in men.

The IVF procedure still involves the joining of the egg and sperm cells, but it takes place outside of the body (in vitro), specifically on a laboratory dish. This modern method has a 33-43% chance of success for women under the age of 38, and a 13-27% chance for women 38 years old and above. Many patients consider IVF as a last resort because of the costs involved.

To improve the chances of success for an IVF, a number of practitioners have adopted the age-old traditional treatment of acupuncture as part of the process. This ancient technique involves the placing of tiny needles on strategic parts of the body to regulate the overall balance of the human mind and body. By improving the efficiency of the body, acupuncture also helps improve the efficacy of other treatments, such as IVF. This is supported by studies that show a substantial increase in the success rates of IVF procedures done with the support of acupuncture.
