If you’re trying to get pregnant but not quite successful at
it, it may be the best time to evaluate your food choices. Studies have shown
that diet lifestyles can affect the normal process of the reproduction system.
Strong scientific evidence has suggested that certain food
types should be avoided when you want to improve your fertility.
Curb the Caffeine
For a lot of women, drinking coffee in the morning (or
anytime of the day) has become a ritual. If you’re one of them, you don’t
necessarily have to give up your cup of joe altogether when you’re trying to
get pregnant. You have to cut back the amount of consumption, though, because
too much caffeine can cause fertility problems.
High-Mercury Seafood
High mercury content in fish has been linked to fertility
issues in both genders. Additionally, this substance can stay in the system for
more than a year, affecting the development of a baby’s nervous system. If you
love seafood and find it hard to give it up from your diet, choose low-mercury
options, such as anchovies, salmon, sardines, and trout.
Trans Fat
Trans fat is commonly found in processed food, and this
substance is now linked to increased risk of infertility. Researchers from
Harvard School of Public Health found that women who eat more trans fat are
likely to have ovulation-related fertility issues. So, cut back or better yet
give up trans fat once and for all if you want to conceive.
