Despite its effectiveness, many couples
still find IVF one of the most challenging types of fertility treatments. Anxiety is very common, typically
around whether or not the treatment will work. Unfortunately, being stressed
during the treatment period can hinder results. This is why pre-treatment
preparation is highly recommended if you’re considering IVF. Below are three
ways you can increase the odds of successful conception:
1. Abstain
from smoking. Many
studies have shown that smoking causes hormonal fluctuation in women, which can
lead to menstrual irregularities and make it more difficult for them to
conceive. There’s also evidence that smoking reduces IVF success rate by a
third so women undergoing treatment should quit smoking altogether.
2. Limit
caffeine intake.
Caffeine is known to have potential impact on fertility and is also linked to
an increased risk of stillbirth, miscarriage and congenital deformities.
Although there is no sufficient evidence for the conclusion, women are still
advised to reduce consumption to 2 cups a day.
